If you’re in the Huskisson area in the new year, you might like to head to the Lady Denman Heritage Complex. From 7 January – 28 February 2012 a new exhibition will be on display – From Commodity to Conservation: A history of whaling in Jervis Bay. The exhibition explores the history of whaling from the dangerous days of hand-thrown harpoons to whale watching cruises on the bay.
The exhibition is curated by the Australian National Maritime Museum Movable Heritage Fellow 2011 Claire Baddeley. This program is a Powerhouse Museum initiative coordinated through its Regional Services program to support research and documentation of cultural heritage collections.
