‘Bonkers! Bonkers! Has anyone seen Bonkers?’

Big, black and furry, Bonkers is the museum’s guard dog and best friend to night watchman, Spanka Boom.

On Saturday 14 August, Spanka led mini-Members on the hunt for his four-legged pal. Bonkers was nowhere to be found but we did find a lot of smiles and giggles on the faces of our younger Members at an after-dark torchlight tour of the ships and museum.

If you’l like to get involved in an after-dark kids torchlight tour, we’re running another event tomorrow night, Saturday 21 August 2010. This time, we’ll be following resident stowaway, Stormy Grey through the museum on a madcap treasure hunt to celebrate International Lighthouse Day. For details, and to book, visit our Events page.

  2. Telling the children to help the watchman look for his dog “bonkers” is inspired. What does he tell them at the end of the tour to let then down easily when the dog does not turn up, I wonder. I could imagine a child or two going home that night worrying about poor lost bonkers.
