The excitement amongst the crew was palpable as we awaited the arrival of our first group of voyage crew. As they mingled on the wharf, with anxious shuffling of feet, they were assigned to one of three watches. There are between twelve and fourteen souls in each watch and they will be watch mates, mess mates and companions for the next five days.
As we made our way to Athol Bight, where we moored overnight, our voyage crew began to familiarise themselves with the ship and be inundated with the first of many new things they would learn on the voyage.
